Career and Technical Education

Welcome to Career and Technical Education

There are a wide variety of Career and Technical Educational programs offered in Osceola District Schools offering technology training which incorporates the career skills that are in demand in our society. Career-Technical Education promotes literacy and academic advancement, provides job training and employer partnerships, and improves the employability potential of each student in a K-20 seamless education environment. The diverse Career and Technical Education programs help students improve their math, science, literacy and problem solving skills. The students participate in programs resulting in postsecondary certificates or two- and four- year college degrees.

Middle school courses enable students to explore career pathways, determine career interests and aptitudes, and develop basic technical skills in a variety of career areas. High school career-themed small learning communities provide structured career pathways and technical courses in each of the sixteen nationally recognized career clusters. Postsecondary career training programs align with local and regional economic indicators and labor market trends.

Though Career and Technical Education is preparing students to continue their education past high school and to become lifelong learners, many of our students will be going directly into the workplace upon graduation from high school. Research reveals that a majority of college students work part time while pursuing their post secondary education. Our goal is for all students to graduate from high school with marketable skills.

District Administrator of the Year

The mission of Career and Technical Education is to provide students with technical skills, integrated activities, knowledge and attitude necessary for successful performance in a globally competitive workplace.

The CTE Department will treat all stakeholders with courtesy and respect, striving in every interaction to be friendly, professional, and helpful.  Our staff members strive to serve and support our teachers so they might best serve and support our students.

CTE is for the Career
and College Bound

In today's workplace, continued education and training are givens. CTE programs include a sequence of 3 or 4 high school courses taken in addition to the academic core classes of math, science, English, and social studies. Students completing both the academic requirements and a CTE program have had the advantage of graduating from high school prepared for college and the workplace.

Many CTE students are enrolled in Career Academies, which are designed to provide students with college preparatory curricula with an integrated career theme.
