This table features two iPads available for children to access the Footsteps2Brilliance® app while waiting at the Poinciana Medical Center emergency room. In its first 22 days, the station has already seen over 28 hours of usage. The official launch took place on April 20th at Poinciana Medical Center where Osceola School District Superintendent Dr. Debra Pace, Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington, School Board Member Tim Weisheyer, and Poinciana Medical Center CEO Chris Cosby came together to commemorate the first station’s installation.

Prior to the launch, the station was showcased at an event to stakeholders, and there was an overwhelming response to have more stations throughout the community with Osceola Reads’ new Sponsor-a-Station program. This program will provide community organizations and businesses the opportunity to sponsor a technology station in and around their business or another location of their choosing in Osceola County. At this time, Osceola Reads is working on committing more stations which will benefit readers in kindergarten and younger.

In the two years that Osceola Reads has been an active initiative in Osceola County, over 7,000 users have been registered on the Footsteps2Brilliance® app in the community and local VPK programs, not including all students VPK through 2nd grade who have been registered in the district’s elementary schools in Osceola County. With the Sponsor-a-Station program, Osceola Reads will be able to bring this initiative to areas of the community that will reach families who lack the resources to utilize the free reading app.
