PLEASE NOTE: For Instructional Applicants who have previously retired:

Per Article 16.02 1.c. of our Instructional Employees Contract [Ratified on September 05, 2023]:

1. Beginning the 2022-23 school year, Instructional employees who are hired on or after July 01, 2022, and who are receiving retirement benefits under a public or private retirement system shall receive credit for all verified years of experience for the purposes of professional compensation.  
2. Instructional employees who are eligible under the terms and conditions of Item (1), shall receive salary adjustments retroactive to the employee’s start date but no earlier than July 01, 2022.
3. Beginning the 2023-24 school year, Instructional employees who were hired before July 01, 2022, and who are receiving retirement benefits under a public or private retirement system shall receive credit for all years of experience verified per the terms and conditions in Article 16.02.1.b. of this Contract for the purposes of professional compensation. [Tentative Agreement on September 07, 2023]
4. Instructional employees who are eligible under the terms and conditions of Item (3) shall receive salary adjustments retroactive to, but no earlier than, July 01, 2023. [Tentative Agreement on September 07, 2023]

For Instructional and Administrative Applicants: Advanced Degree Supplement Law Change

The following describes a revision in Section 1012.22(1)(c)3, Florida Statutes [e.g., Senate Bill 736 (2011)]:

"A District school board may not use advanced degrees in setting a salary for instructional personnel or school administrators hired on or after July 1, 2011, unless the advanced degree is held in the individual's area of certification and is only a salary supplement."

This means that instructional personnel and school administrators with a district start date of July 1, 2011, or after must have a degree major posted on their transcript which matches a subject listed on their Florida certificate, in order to qualify for an advanced degree salary supplement at the master, specialist or doctorate levels.

Instructional personnel and school administrators with a continuous employment date prior to July 1, 2011, in a position that falls under one of these classifications, are not affected by this law change. An advanced degree in any area will be recognized for salary purposes for these employees, now or in the future, as long as there is no break in service with the District.

Instructional personnel or school administrators will fall under the mandates of the new law if they:

• transfer to a professional support staff position within the District and return to an instructional or school administrative position on or after  July 1, 2011, or
• resign, retire, or have a termination date for any reason, and then return to an instructional or school administrative position within the District on or after July 1, 2011.

Instructional personnel or school administrators moving to one of these positions in another Florida school district, on or after July 1, 2011, will fall under the mandates of the new law in the other district.
