Student Device Care & Expectations

The School District of Osceola County provides student access to technology to support teaching and learning across all grade levels. Based on the current device model, students in grades 6 through 12 will be issued an individual mobile device for use at school and at home for educational purposes.

Students in grades K–1 will utilize iPads as part of classroom sets that remain assigned to instructional rooms and are not checked out for take-home use. Similarly, for grades 2 through 5, campuses will utilize classroom sets of devices that remain assigned to instructional rooms and are not checked out to individual students. however, Students in these grade levels may request a laptop for at-home use, however a parent or legal guardian will be requried too complete a Device Borrower’s Form before a device can be issued for checkout.

When devices are issued to students, they will include a charger and protective case. Students are expected to take proper care of any assigned equipment and protect it from damage. Damage is defined as any material change, whether caused by negligence, accident, or intent, that affects the device’s functionality or appearance. In the event of damage, a fee may be assessed to the student, parent, or legal guardian, depending on the nature of the incident.

🔹General Expectations

•Bring your device daily: Fully charged and ready for learning.

•Use responsibly: Devices are for educational purposes only.

•Follow district policies: Adhere to the School District’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) at all times.

🔹Device Care Tips

•Keep it clean: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean screens. Avoid liquids.

•Protect it: Always carry your device in a protective case or sleeve.

•Charge it nightly: Ensure it's ready for the next school day.

•Avoid food & drinks: Keep them away from your device to prevent damage.

🔹Digital Citizenship

•Be respectful: Communicate kindly and responsibly online.

•Stay safe: Never share personal information or passwords.

•Report issues: Tell a teacher or tech staff if something seems wrong.

🔹Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Devices

•Report immediately: Notify your school’s tech support or front office.

•Fees may apply: For repairs or replacements due to negligence or loss.

•Report issues: Tell a teacher, School Tech or a staff member if something seems wrong.
