Staff Story 1

-
I choose to work for the Osceola School District because it has been my professional home throughout my entire educational career. I began my journey with SDOC as a substitute teacher, which gave me the opportunity to learn about different schools, students, and educational environments throughout the district. Over the years, I grew professionally and was able to serve in several roles, including paraprofessional, separate classroom teacher at both the middle and elementary levels, and now as a Resource Compliance Specialist and recently completed my Ed Leadership.
What has kept me with SDOC is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to grow professionally. The district has provided me with experiences that have expanded my knowledge and skills at every stage of my career. More importantly, I have always felt connected to the mission of supporting students and families in our community. Being able to serve the students of Osceola County in different capacities has been both rewarding and fulfilling.

What I love most about my job is knowing that the work I do helps ensure students receive the services and support they need to be successful. As a Resource Compliance Specialist, I have the opportunity to work with educators, administrators, and families to support compliance and best practices that ultimately benefit our students.
I also enjoy building relationships and being a resource for others. Whether I am helping solve a problem, providing guidance, or supporting schools in navigating complex processes, I appreciate being part of a team that works together to meet the needs of students. Knowing that my efforts contribute to positive outcomes for children makes my work meaningful every day.

The students we serve are what motivate me to bring my best every day. Throughout my career, I have worked directly with students in a variety of roles, and those experiences have given me a deep understanding of how important it is for every child to have the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
I am also driven by a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities to learn, collaborate, and make a difference. I take pride in being someone others can rely on, and I strive to approach my work with integrity, professionalism, and a student-centered mindset. Knowing that my work can positively affect students, families, and school staff inspires me to give my best effort every day.

My proudest SDOC accomplishment is the professional journey I have taken within the district. Starting as a substitute teacher and advancing through multiple roles, including paraprofessional, separate classroom teacher, and now Resource Compliance Specialist, reflects my dedication to both professional growth and student success. Each position has provided valuable experiences and allowed me to expand my impact on the students and schools we serve.
In addition to my professional growth, I am especially proud of establishing the Educational Assistance Dog Program while serving as a teacher nine years ago. What began as a resource to support students in my classroom has grown into a program that continues to positively impact students and staff across our district. Seeing the program extend beyond my classroom door and continue to provide comfort, encouragement, and support to so many individuals is incredibly rewarding and represents the lasting difference that innovative student-centered initiatives can make.
Looking back on my career, I am proud of how far I have come and grateful for the opportunities SDOC has provided me to grow, serve, and make a difference in the lives of students, staff, and families. What makes me most proud is that throughout every role, I have remained focused on supporting students and helping them reach their potential. The knowledge and perspective I have gained from working at different levels and in different capacities allow me to contribute in meaningful ways today. Looking back on my career, I am proud of how far I have come and grateful for the opportunities SDOC has provided me to grow, serve, and make a difference in the lives of students and their families.
